Iolite, also called water sapphire, was very popular with the Vikings. The color ranges from light to dark blue. It is a spiritual stone that enhances intuition. The stone helps you to walk your own path and look for who you really are. The stone enhances creativity and acts on the Throat chakra (5th), the forehead chakra (6th) and the crown chakra (7th).

What materials were used for this piece of jewelry?

• Rhodium plating: Rhodium plating is the application of a thin layer of rhodium over a piece of silver jewelry (sterling silver 925). Rhodium is a precious and rare metal that gives a brilliant, extra white luster to jewelry. This prevents the silver from oxidizing (turning black). This way you can enjoy your jewelry for a long time. On average, the lifespan of a layer of rhodium is 1 year. When rhodium fades, you are left with a very beautiful silver piece of jewelry. Hence, we do not use cheap metal as the core, but sterling silver 925. You can easily extend the life of rhodium plated jewelry with the tips below! After the jewelry loses its rhodium coating, you can clean your silver jewelry with a silver polishing cloth or microfiber cloth from time to time. That way, you can enjoy a beautiful piece of jewelry for years to come.
• Gold vermeil: With Gold vermeil, a real layer of gold is applied over a Sterling silver 925 piece of jewelry. This makes your jewelry look like real gold, but remains affordable. For our own collection, we use 1 micron gold (18k) over a core of Sterling silver 925. Gold vermeil is more durable than gold-plated jewelry because this technique uses a thicker layer of gold. When the gold layer fades over time, you are left with a beautiful piece of jewelry in Sterling silver 925. A piece of jewelry in Gold vermeil can remain beautiful for years provided you take care of it.
• 100% Natural Gemstones: We only work with 100% genuine gemstones at Crystals by Lina. Due to the nature of gemstones, no stone will be the same, making each piece unique. Small variations in color and size are therefore normal. However, some gemstones are susceptible to scratches and fractures. Take care of your jewelry so you can enjoy it for years to come.

5 tips to keep your gemstone jewelry beautiful for a long time

• Do not wear your jewelry in the shower/bathtub. Also, take off your jewelry when you go swimming or wash your hands.
• Avoid contact with chemical agents. Your jewelry can be tarnished if it comes into contact with all-purpose cleaner, chlorine or other cleaning agents.
• Use perfume before putting on your jewelry. Body lotion, sunscreen and other products can also tarnish your jewelry.
• Sports are best done without your jewelry. Both the acidity of your skin and sweat can damage your jewelry.
